This system is especially beneficial for migrant laborers, students and people who go to other states in search of jobs. Now they will not need to get a new ration card made every time. This process is absolutely safe and fast due to the digital verification system.
Revolutionary change in gas subsidy
The government has started a new system regarding gas cylinder subsidy. Now the subsidy amount on gas cylinder will be sent directly to the beneficiary’s bank account. This amount will reach the account within a stipulated time frame, so that people will not need to go to the gas agency or dealer again and again.
This system is especially beneficial for consumers registered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Also, now information about the status of subsidy will be available through SMS. Subsidy rates have been fixed state-wise, which will maintain transparency in the entire process.
Mandatory digital ration card
The government has clearly announced that only digital ration cards will be valid after 2025. All state governments will have to convert their old manual ration cards into digital format. This digital card will be linked to Aadhaar number, mobile number and QR code.
With this system, the problem of fake ration cards and duplicate entries will be completely controlled. Those who have not yet upgraded their ration cards to digital format should complete this work as soon as possible online or through the nearest CSC center.
Strict KYC rules for gas connections
The KYC process for new gas connection or connection transfer has been made even more stringent. Now consumers will have to compulsorily provide details of Aadhaar card, ration card and mobile number. Without these documents, gas connection will not be available.
Along with this, the government is also investigating those who have more than one gas connection in a house. If a person is using two gas connections fraudulently, then he will be fined. These rules have been made to prevent misuse of subsidy and to benefit the real needy.
Inclusion of nutrients in ration
The government has not limited the ration system to only wheat, rice and sugar. Additional nutritional items such as pulses, salt, soybean and oil are also being included in the ration as a pilot project in many states from 2025. This is an important step towards improving the nutritional level of women and children in particular.
This new system is being implemented on the basis of permission from the state governments, but soon it is set to be adopted across the country. This will increase the quality of government ration and will also help in controlling serious problems like malnutrition.
