CBSE Board New Rules 2025: CBSE Board has taken a very big and historic decision for the students. Now the 10th board examination will be conducted twice a year for lakhs of students across the country. This change has been made especially with the aim of reducing the exam stress of the students and giving them another chance to score better marks. This decision of CBSE has been taken under the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020), which will come into effect from 2026.
new time table of exam
According to the new rules of CBSE, the first board exam will be conducted in the month of February which will be compulsory for all students. The second exam will be conducted in May which will be optional. That is, if a student is not satisfied with the marks of the first exam, then he can improve his performance by giving the exam for the second time. The marks of the better of the two exams will be included in the final result.
In which subjects will you get a chance for improvement
Students will get an opportunity to improve their marks in three major subjects. This includes subjects like science, mathematics, social sciences and languages. The special thing is that the syllabus will be the same for both the exams. This means that students will have to study the entire syllabus both the times. Also, CBSE has clarified that no semester system will be implemented and the pattern of both the exams will also be the same.
Practical and internal assessment process
Under the new rules of CBSE Board, practical and internal assessment will be done only once. Usually these will be completed before February. The special thing is that the students appearing for the exam for the second time will not need to give practical again. The previous practical marks will be added to the result of both the exams.
Changes related to result and certificate
The result of the first exam will be released in April but students will not get a passing certificate at that time. Students will have to download their result from DigiLocker which can be used for admission in class 11th. The final mark sheet and passing certificate will be provided only after the result of the second exam. If a student does not want to take the second exam, then the marks of his first exam will be considered as the final result.
New rules related to fees and registration
CBSE also informed that the examination fees for both the exams will be charged together. For this, schools will have to submit the List of Candidates (LOC) in the month of September. After the result of the first exam, the LOC portal will be reopened for five days so that students who need it can register for the improvement exam. New applications will not be allowed for the second exam.
