Anganwadi Salary Hike: There is an important good news for Anganwadi workers as the government has decided to increase their honorarium. This increase is the result of their long-standing struggle and demands. Anganwadi workers were demanding better honorarium for years and many movements were also done for this. Now the government has heard their voice and taken steps towards improving their condition.
The services of these workers are extremely important for the most vulnerable section of the society. They work from taking care of pregnant women to providing nutrition to children. Despite this, they were not getting adequate honorarium due to which their financial condition was weak. Now this decision of the government will give them some relief and they will be able to perform their duties in an even better way.
Important decision of Rajasthan Government
The Rajasthan government has approved a ten percent increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers. This decision was taken in the departmental review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Diya Kumari. In this meeting, not only the honorarium increase but many other important proposals were also passed which were necessary for the betterment of Anganwadi centers.
This decision will benefit thousands of Anganwadi workers in Rajasthan. The government has also announced that the quantity of milk in the nutrition diet will be increased and Rs 50 crore will be spent to repair Anganwadi buildings. This is a holistic approach that not only improves the condition of the workers but also strengthens the entire system.
Current Status of Honorarium Structure
The structure of honorarium given to Anganwadi workers is based on the joint contribution of the central and state government. Sixty percent of the amount comes from central assistance while forty percent is given from the state fund. The Rajasthan government had earlier also increased the honorarium by twenty percent from the state fund and now it has increased it by an additional ten percent.
This arrangement shows that the state government is serious about the welfare of Anganwadi workers. Providing additional assistance from the state in addition to the central scheme is a commendable step. This will not only improve the financial condition of the workers but will also boost their morale, which will make them more dedicated to their work.
State-wise honorarium comparison
Anganwadi workers get different honorarium in different states of the country. Haryana is at the forefront in this matter where Anganwadi workers get fourteen thousand rupees, Mini Anganwadi workers get twelve thousand rupees and assistants get seven and a half thousand rupees monthly honorarium. This is the highest honorarium in the country which is an example for other states.
Whereas in states like Uttar Pradesh, Anganwadi workers get Rs 8,000 and helpers get Rs 4,000. This comparison shows that there is still scope for improvement in many states. This initiative of Rajasthan can serve as an inspiration for other states.
Future Prospects and Challenges
The increase in honorarium of Anganwadi workers is a positive step but many challenges still remain. Considering the rate of inflation, regular increase is required so that their real income does not fall. Also, there is a need to fix honorarium in proportion to the increasing responsibilities of work.
The government should formulate a long-term policy that reviews the honorarium at regular intervals and increases it as needed. This will not only keep the morale of the workers high but will also encourage quality people to join this field. To strengthen the Anganwadi system, it is necessary that the workers get proper respect and financial security.
