The Telangana state government made an important announcement in July 2024 to waive off the loans of farmers up to Rs 1 lakh. After this announcement, the loans of many farmers were waived in the first phase and this process is still going on. In the state of Jharkhand, loans up to Rs 50,000 were first waived and now it has been increased to Rs 2 lakh.
These schemes are being implemented in a phased manner so that maximum number of farmers can get the benefit. The government is trying to ensure that no eligible farmer is deprived of this scheme. The first condition is that the loan taken by the farmer should be only for agricultural purposes. Loans taken for personal or other purposes are not waived under this scheme. The second important condition is that the farmer should be a permanent resident of the concerned state.
The time limit for taking the loan has also been fixed and only the loan taken during that period is eligible for waiver. The farmer should have all the necessary documents and proof of taking the loan. It is mandatory to have the documents received from the bank or financial institution.

The government has made the loan waiver list available online for the convenience of farmers. Farmers can check their name in the beneficiary list with the help of their smartphone or computer sitting at home. For this, one has to visit the official website of the concerned state and follow the instructions given there.
There is an option related to loan waiver on the website, by clicking on which the necessary information has to be filled. In this, information like district, tehsil, village has to be given. After filling all the details correctly, a list opens in which the farmer can see his name.

Farmers get many benefits from loan waiver. The biggest benefit is that they get rid of both the principal amount and interest. This reduces the mental pressure on the farmers and they can pay better attention to their agricultural activities. They can use the income from the crop for the betterment of their family.
