Lek Ladki Yojana: The Maharashtra government has launched an extremely ambitious scheme for the bright future of the daughters of the state. Known as Lek Ladki Yojana, the main objective of this welfare scheme is to make the daughters of poor and economically weak families self-reliant and educated. Through this scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of a total of one lakh one thousand rupees from the birth of the daughter till the age of 18 years. This amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account in different phases.
Details of the amount received under the scheme
The most special thing about the Ladki Yojana is that this entire amount is distributed in five different phases. The first installment of five thousand rupees is given at the time of the birth of the daughter. After this, when the girl takes admission in the first class, four thousand rupees are given. An amount of six thousand rupees is given on admission in the sixth class. Eight thousand rupees are given at the time of admission in the eleventh class. The biggest installment is given on completion of the age of 18 years, which is seventy-five thousand rupees. In this way, a total assistance amount of one lakh one thousand rupees is provided.
Eligibility Required for the Scheme
To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is necessary to fulfill certain conditions. The first condition is that the daughter should be a permanent resident of Maharashtra state and she should also have been born within the state. The family must have a yellow or orange ration card which shows that the family falls below the poverty line. The daughter should have her own bank account in which the facility of direct benefit transfer is activated. No member of the family should be in a government job nor should be an income tax payer. Only one daughter in a family can get the benefit of this scheme.
Documents required for application
Many important documents are required to apply for the scheme. Among these, the daughter’s birth certificate is the most important. Aadhar cards of both the daughter and the parents will also be required. The family’s BPL ration card which is yellow or orange in colour, income certificate, caste certificate and residence certificate are also required. Apart from this, passport size photo, photocopy of bank passbook and an active mobile number will also have to be given.
Application process and future plans
At present, this scheme has only been announced by the government and its application process is going to start soon. When this scheme is fully implemented, the facility to apply both online and offline will be available. The applicant has to apply for the Ladki scheme by visiting the official website of the Government of Maharashtra or Maha DBT Portal. In the application form, daughter’s information, school details, bank details etc. have to be filled and all the required documents have to be uploaded.
