Smart Electricity Meter: Change in electricity bill system, electricity meter will have to be recharged like mobile

Smart Electricity Meter

Smart Electricity Meter: The Rajasthan government is completely changing the process of paying electricity bills. According to this process, now you will have to recharge the electricity meter just like you recharge your mobile. So, you will be able to use as much light as your electricity meter is recharged. Apart from this, the government has started the process of installing smart meters in the entire state. It has been started from the government residence of Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar, where the first smart electricity meter has been installed on Thursday.

The main purpose of smart electricity meter is to prevent electricity theft and digitalize the electricity system so that there will be no need to go to the house again and again to check the meters. The Energy Minister has also said that this technology will prove to be very important for the public. With this, consumers will be able to see on their mobile how many units of electricity they have spent and how much balance they have to balance. Apart from this, it will also be shown how much recharge is left in your meter. Now consumers will not have to face the hassle of bills every month and neither will they have to worry about getting a high bill because now the bill will be for the number of units of electricity you use.

How will the smart meter work?

The smart meter issued by the government will be implemented as a prepaid system. Just like you get services on recharging your mobile, similarly, on recharging this meter, you will also get electricity and the consumers will be able to use as much electricity as they recharge. For this, a mobile app and online portal will also be issued by the government, through which consumers will be able to check the electricity consumption balance and expenditure in real time.

The Energy Minister also said that many people have this misconception that smart meters will result in higher electricity bills, so let them know that in reality this system will be controlled by the consumers themselves so that they can know how much electricity is being used and this is a good measure to bring transparency in the bill and if they get a wrong bill, they can complain themselves. This will benefit the poor and working class people more because under this, now you will not have to pay a huge bill at once.

Who will benefit

Smart Electricity Meter will prove to be beneficial for all the consumers, under this it is more beneficial for the poor labourers and the people working on daily wages because now they will not have to pay the bill together every month due to which they had to face a big problem but now with the smart meter they can recharge the amount and the amount of electricity they want to use, this will help them balance their budget easily.

What problems will have to be

At present, every person has a smart mobile, whether he lives in a village or in an urban area. Apart from this, women and laborers are also seen with smartphones, in such a situation, the Energy Minister has told that there will be no problem in this because just like top up recharge in mobile, you will be able to recharge the meter and through this scheme of the government, you will be able to see the live demo of the smart meter by going to the locality with the Discom team, so that you can know about your electricity usage yourself.

Some people believe that billing will be automatically generated on a fixed date from Smart Electricity Meter, so that consumers can pay at the electricity department counter or online. If the payment is not made on time, then the electricity connection will be disconnected immediately. But half an hour after the payment, the electricity connection will be reconnected. For this, they will not have to pay any additional fee and by the end of 2026, the government will install smart meters in all the houses of the state.
